College Park Gym is located on the site of the former Southeastern Christian College. This district park is located on Wheeler Avenue containing 8.5 acres.
One of the most popular parks in Winchester, it is the site of the annual Pioneer Festival every Labor Day weekend. In addition to the renovated gym, there are picnic areas with 6 grills, 14 tables, and 1 picnic shelter. Also located on the grounds of College Park are a basket ball court, 2 tennis courts, a walking path, practice field, playground and a community building.
There is no charge for reserving the picnic shelter, but reservations are strongly suggested. To reserve the picnic shelter, call (859) 744-9554 or (859) 745-0240.
The hours of the College Park Gym are, generally speaking:
Indoor Track:
Monday - Friday - 8:00am until 9:00pm
Saturday - 7:00am until 12:00 noon
Sunday - 7:00am until 5:00pm
Daytime Open Gym Hours:
Monday through Friday - 11:00am until 3:00pm - 18 years old and over and children
under 12 when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Evening Open Gym Hours:
Monday - NO OPEN GYM
Tuesday - 5:00pm - 8:00pm - Under age 16 only
Wednesday - NO OPEN GYM
Thursday - 5:00pm - 8:0pm. 16 and over
Friday - 5:00pm - 8:00pm. - Family Night ( Children accompanied by a parent,
grandparent, or legal guardian)
Saturday - No Open Gym
Sunday - 12:00pm - 2:00pm. - Under 16 only
2:00pm - 4:00pm - Adults only (age 16 and over)
These hours are the hours under normal circumstances. The hours must be adjusted occasionally to accomadate special events, programs, or activities scheduled for College Park Gym. At times, situations develop that are beyond our control which may also force us to adjust the hours. When the hours are changed from the norm, the temporary hours will be posted at the gym, and on this website in the News and Announcements section.
You may rent the gym for private parties. The cost is $100 for two hours, $50/hr. there after. There is also a $300 refundable deposit. If the rental involves putting down a floor covering, there is an additional $125 charge.
The College Park Annex (old College Library building) is also available for rentals.
The rental fee is as follows:
There is a refundable deposit of $150.
Until 6:00pm - $50 for 2 hours. After 2 hours there is an additional $25 per hour fee
From 6:00pm until close - $90 for 2 hours. After 2 hours there is an additional $45 per hour charge.
