The Clark County Fairgrounds Board gave permission to build a disc golf course on their property and a handful of enthusiasts worked dilligently to make sure it came to pass. It has been dubbed the Ironworks Hills Disc Golf Course and is free to the public and open for business. The course is just inside the fairgrounds entrance so come on out and enjoy Clark County's newest recreational opportunity.
We have had the opportunity to have several PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) events and look forward to having more.
We have had a His and Hers Doubles Tournament where teams of one man and one woman alternated shots back and forth until the hole was finished. This was great fun and something that we hope will continue year after year
In October WCCPR sponsored a Disc Golf Event where we maxed out with 45 players. This event was the first of many and everyone that participated couldn't wait for the next event.
November 21, 2009 WCCPR had our first Annual PDGA Turkey Toss. This was a sanctioned event with 36 holes and an Ace pool. For this event a set of 9 temporary holes were added with kind donations from local supporters. We had a total of 64 players who were local and also players that came from Tennessee and Ohio WOW! This was a fundraiser for Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society (the first one of the year) and it couldn't have been a better day for this. Thanks to all those who supported us!!
The Ice Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2010. This is a sanctioned event with a 90 player limit. This will consist of 36 holes (9 stationary and 9 temporary). For more information please contact Mandy at 859-744-9554 or email wccpr@roadrunner.com
